3 NP Newsletter

Amendments from last meeting now incorporated. Noted it will be an insert in a composite publication comprising BPC and GRA newsletters. Richard will be sending to printers by 25/3. Expected availability for delivery is 3/4. Lesley will liaise with deliverers after receipt of newsletters.. Costs to be covered from grant and then contributions from BPC and GRA as required

First preference 12/6, 7pm at Belmont Community Centre. If rooms no available 17/6, 7pm. Lesley to check dates and advise Richard for inclusion in newsletter.

a) Local Nature Recovery Strategy

Agreed to submit comments supporting direction outlined in consultation papers copying detail from NP narrative on Features. Further agreed the following areas should be prioritised as valuable nature areas for the local habitat map. This should help direct resources into the best places to deliver nature recovery.

The Scrambles; Kepier Woods and riverbank area towards Kepier Hospital; Pelaw Woods leading to and including Old Durham Gardens; Dragon Park; land to the south of Sherburn Road housing and west of Benthouse Lane; Rennys Lane and land to the south; Moorfield adjacent to Belmont Community Centre

b) Solar Panels

Agreed to submit comments emphasising the importance of commercial and business properties maximising use of panels, In addition measures neeed to be taken that safeguard the Green Belt, public rights of way and the cultural heritage. Patrick to submit

c) Housing Needs

Agreed to submit comments taking into account the Housing Needs Assessment report Richard to submit

d) Licencing consultation

Agreed not to submit comments

a) Features and Facilities, following circulation by Richard of current narrative and gaps

b) Consideration of possible policies under the identified themes

Note, Stuart Carter and Chloe Hillam will be invited to this meeting, or alternatively to another one, details of which will be circulated when confirmed. Lesley to contact them. Agreed a copy of the Housing Needs Assessment report should be forwarded to them.
