Working group meeting minutes – 13 December 2022

  1. 1 Notes from 6 December agreed. Follow up on specific options
    • Richard had provided mapping showing ownership of land south of current housing development on Benthouse Lane. John A will preprae a short note on this
    • John A preparing schedule of approved planning applications over the last five years in the NP area
    • Patrick discussing with Chloe Hillam mapping of NP area
    • Noted BPC had made allocated £800 for planning in 23/24 budget
  1. Group examined smaller green spaces itemised in earlier discussions on Features and Facilities. At this stage preliminary conclusions were
    • Duffy bordering Sunderland Road. Retain
    • Moorlands. Retain
    • Cooper Square. Retain
    • Cunningham Place. Possibly allocate a percentage for bungalows, though retaining some green space
    • Kepier Lane ( from School View, through to Pigrims Way and beyond including land to rear of Prebends) Retain and possibly develop as a linear park
    • Dragon Park. Retain and develop with improved entrance from Sherburn Road.
    • Carrsway. Retain
    • Rennys Lane. Noted the eastern part is in Sherburn civil Parish. Further discussion needed regarding hedging
    • Play areas at Poplar Road, Poplar Drive and ‘secret park’ (rear of Ashdown) Retain
    • Kenny Place. Noted two areas to the rear bordering A690. Retain triangular portion. Possible use of remainder for housing. To be discussed further, including issues of access
    • McNally Place. Retain and look to strengthening protection of bungalow frontages
    • Allotments throuhout NP area. Retain and strengthen policeis
    • Heaviside Place. Retain
    • Gilesgate Park. Retain
    • Fellside Gardens . Retain
    • Some smaller areas at Kirkstone Drive and Sunderland Road may not require additional policies
  2. Agreed each smaller space required a short profile. Patrick to prepare a note for next meeting.
  3. Agreed to meet again in January, possibly early evening 5pm, 6pm 7pm to accommodate working residents. Richard will do a further doodle poll. Those present to email Richard with their availability and preferences.
  4. Outline agenda for next meeting
    • Further discussion on smaller green spaces, including new areas not so far identified. Eg, Frank Street, Cuthbert Avenue etc
    • Buildings and businesses with community significance as identifies on previous circulated sheet
    • Next stages, to include preparation of draft discussion documents, timetable for public meetings and venues
